Date Club Notes in Detail
5/11/2010

Don called the meeting to order at 7:05.

There are now 24 people signed up for the “Big Trip” to Cozumel in July - 20 divers and 4 non-divers.

Larry gave a report on his trip to Curacao where they stayed five nights at the All West Apartments in a remote location which is more pristine than areas closer to town.  Only one dive boat per day leaves from there, but there is also unlimited shore diving.  The fish life is abundant but they saw very few large fish.  For three more nights, they stayed at the Scuba Club in town.  He is working on a power point presentation which he will show at a future Club meeting.

If the Club is interested, he will research Curacao as a possible “Big Trip” for next year.

Rite gave a report on her trip to Tahiti, staying on the smaller island of Moorea which has a “secret charm” and is more reasonable than the larger island.  In their room at the Peal Resort, she and John had a private plunge pool just outside their door.  They also had the most exciting dive experience of their travels – diving to a shark cleaning station where black tip, reef and lemon sharks were there in mass waiting to be groomed.

Don encountered a bull shark 16 miles off  Coretz beach in Bradenton on a day trip with Scuba Quest.  Of course, he did not stay in the water long after that.

Rita has invited Suncaost Scuba to join with the Pinellas Sea Bunnies on their trip to Miami over the July 4th holiday.  They will be diving Saturday PM and Sunday AM for a total of 4 dives and staying at the Hampton Inn in Coconut Grove.

Only 3 people have signed up for the weekend trip to Pompano.

If you are interested is diving with the Club, please sign up soon.  There are 8 on the roster for June in Boynton and only 4 signed up for the July trip to West Palm.

The next Club meeting will be June 8th.
