SUNCOAST SCUBA CLUB

TAMPA, FLORIDA

Statement of Purpose
The Suncoast Scuba Club (the Club) is a non-profit organization committed to providing diving opportunities to certified divers in the Tampa Bay Area, to organize scuba trips/activities for sport diving, underwater photography, shell collecting and the support of environmental efforts. The Club books trips on a "group rate" basis to obtain the best prices. Group rates depend on active participation and meeting the operator's minimums. The Club reserves the right to cancel a trip or adjust the prices due to lack of interest.

Meetings
Meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday every month, unless otherwise noted. Members are encouraged to attend regularly to give input and to keep updated on the status of the Club activities.

MEMBERSHIP
Section 1 - Membership is open to any person subject to provisions set forth herewith, male or female certified in open water diving by an approved certifying agency, who will abide by the rules and regulations of this organization and who express a desire and willingness to be dedicated to the purpose herein. Members must abide by the democratic principles of good sportsmanship and will be courteous and considerate at all times. Members of the SUNCOAST SCUBA CLUB pledge to obey the rules and regulations as set forth by this document.
Section 2 - Upon a complaint of conduct on the part of any member that may reflect unfavorably on the organization as a whole, said member may be expelled by a 51% vote of the club's officials. Upon the infraction of any standard diving rules as set forth by the recognized diving certifying agency or by any willful act, dangerous to or causing harm to another person while diving or other Club sponsored activity, by any member, that member shall be subject to immediate dismissal from the Club and membership dues will be forfeited.
Section 3 - Application for membership shall be made in writing on the forms provided by the Club. All members must sign this instrument/Release and abide by the provisions thereof. Annual dues, as decided by the Club are payable in January of each year. Members who join during the year will pay prorata dues by the quarter in which they join January of each year. Members who join during the year will pay prorata dues by the quarter in which they join.
Section 4 - Non-members may attend one dive trip as a quest of an active member, at a price slightly higher than the members' price. Non-members must sign a Release in Full of all Claims and abide by the Club rules & regulations.

Payments
Each member is responsible for their own payment schedule and is to notify the Club 15 days in advance if he/she is unable to attend a trip already signed-up for. Participating members, prior to the due date noted on the dive trip schedule or calendar, must pay all dive trip charges in full. If a member must cancel, he/she is responsible for filling that vacancy unless the trip's final destination is outside the U.S. As trips are booked on a "group rate" basis, refunds will not be available to those who cancel after the scheduled due date of the last payment. The Club is not responsible for trip cancellations caused by inclement weather, diving conditions, dive or trip operators, and acts of God, but good faith efforts will be made to refund the remaining monies collected for that trip. Trips whose final destination is outside the U.S. require bookings through travel agents or travel wholesalers. Participants in these trips are subject to the policies of the travel agent or wholesaler and any penalties for trip cancellation or change will be borne by the participating member.

Safety
Each member and guest recognizes that scuba diving is a hazardous activity. Each member is responsible for his/her own safety and equipment (including spare parts), to make sure it is in good working condition and to perform a safety check prior to the dive. Members are responsible for evaluating their own physical/metal capacity to participate in dives. The Club has the right but not the obligation to deny participation in any dive activity if the member is obviously impaired. Each member is responsible for choosing his or her own dive buddy before the dive.
